		Posted - 04/03/2003 : 08:53:03 AM i just did my first jumps last night.i started small and got a little gigger with more speed.it was fun,just beware not to touch the rear brake...i found out the hard way and came down front first.
		that is a almost a perfect bike for that size of jump, that is if you arn't to heavy, which i probably am(yup all 175lbs).
		i have made a jump that was probably only 2.5 ft tall but it had an almost vertical lip to it and it launched me a good 8' high, i only went about 5' horizantally but it looks really cool when you do it.

		The dirt jumping niche hasn't quite grown large enough to justify its own media (magazines, etc) coverage yet so it continues to get lumped in with mountain biking since it really has nowhere else to go.
		I know there are people who are really passionate about dirt jumping and, in no way am I belittling this particular cycling niche I'm just saying that it's not mountain biking and, in fact, is MUCH closer to being BMX than what most (I'm guessing) consider mountain biking.

		Since you can't build up a whole lot of speed on a unicycle ramps aren't a lot of use since they are made to be used with lots of speed to clear large objects.
		I'm sure people have gone off dirt ramps on a uni but not in the same sense as on a dirtbike that can go really fast.

		If you want a jump that actually launches you properly I think you'd have to get the spade out and fiddle with a jump a bit, I think a pretty short and sharp jump with a little upwards launching lip at the top would launch a unicycle better than a normal bike shaped jump.
		Also I reckon unicycles are best with small jumps, they wouldn't take too long to dig yourself one or two to play on.
		Lining up the pedals before jumping could improve the quality of the jump, but you could usually do nearly as good with just a lot of guts and speed.
