The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prodigy Present The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One is a 1999 solo mix album by Liam Howlett of The Prodigy that was produced for BBC Radio 1's mix show The Breezeblock.
The album came about as a result of a 1998 guest DJ appearance by Howlett on Mary-Anne Hobbs's Breezeblock show on the UK radio station Radio 1, producing a similar set.
In a bid to stop popular bootleg copies of the show an official album, essentially an extended version of the Breezeblock mix, was released.

MUSIC REVIEW: The Dirtchamber Sessions, Vol. 1 -- Eclectic sources fused into a fabulous mix   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Liam Howlett, who writes and performs most of the music for electronic act Prodigy, reportedly has not been thrilled with the fact that most of the group’s fame has been attached to the front men, Keith Flint and Maxim Reality (they’re the ugly gentlemen in the music videos).
Dirtchamber Sessions is a continuous dance mix (although it is divided into eight tracks, the segues between them are very fluid) of a startling array of songs by about forty different bands and artists.
These songs are all sampled and laid over a thumping big beat rhythm line, and only few seem out of place, primarily thanks to Howlett’s adept mixing skills.

Their recipe is an intoxicating mix of fascinating vocal deliveries and Godzilla-sized beats which are used with surgical precision, all in the name of a good time.
Last year's DJ remix offering by the Prodigy (The Dirtchamber Sessions; Volume 1) is a great predecessor to On The Floor, but the DJs from the Allstars seem to be much more well-rounded in true hip-hop.
This album is a must have for anyone looking to liven up their own dance-floor this summer, whether that be in a sweaty nightclub or in your backyard.

The beauty of Dirtchamber Sessions is that while there are over 50 songs mixed, it really sounds like 1 really long track.

The Prodigy (Presents) - The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume 1 - Review
I've heard a lot of damn mix discs over the course of my life of buying music and reviewing it.
I must say that perhaps save different releases by Mix Master Mike and the Invisible Skratch Pikl posse, Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One is the weirdest one that I've ever heard.
It's not weird in that it cuts up the sound a lot like the above artists, but the disc definitely has one of the shortest attention spans I've ever heard (busting through about 30 or more different tracks in the course of only 50 minutes or so).

In 1999, the next Prodigy release was the Dirtchamber Sessions Volume 1.
The album, actually the solo work of Howlett, was a change of direction with around 50 cut, scratched, and cross-faded tracks.
Bootleg copies of the show soon began to circulate around the UK, and in a bid to stop this, the album, essentially an extended version of the Breezeblock mix, was released.

The Prodigy's mastermind Liam Howlett has been banned from using a Beatles sample from his new album - even though Sir Paul McCartney was happy for the track to be used.
Howlett, who fronts the multi-million selling dance band, had planned to use two verses and a chorus from Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on his new album, Prodigy Present Dirtchamber Sessions Volume 1.
But despite the approval of songwriter Sir Paul, the Fab Four's record label Apple refused to give clearance for the track to be used.

The answer is simple: it simply means Liam’s studio – and thus the expression Dirtchamber Sessions makes sense, especially knowing that this is a studio mix album.
Before the mix was aired on Radio 1, the presenter, Mary-Anne Hobbs talked to Liam on the phone.
As a showcase of musical roots, from punk to ska, classic hip-hop to early rave, it is a storming panorama of big beats and B-Boy attitude.

If Prodigy rocked your world while turning the mainstream irrevocably onto electronic music then know's your chance to find out what helped make Liam Howlett, the main man, start ticking in the first place.
It's all here on the first volume of what will hopefully turn into a set of nonstop mixes containing some of the better grooves the eighties and early nineties turned out.
Chemical Brothers, Herbie Hancock, The Charlatans, Word Of Mouth, Frankie Bones, Beastie Boys and many many more stand in line waiting for Howlett to come along and mix them into one fluent stream of consciousness, adding his magic to each in turn and making it all make some kind of sense.

Import Tuner's Required Audio: The Dirtchamber Sessions, Volume One
While this CD will be over a year old by the time you read this review, the producer of hybrid rock group Prodigy, Liam Howlett, has created a mixdisc that will keep heads spinning for years.
An unorthodox combination of artists (The Sex Pistols and Frankie Bones to the Beastie Boys and LLCoolJ to Barry White and Ultramagnetic Mc's) will no doubt confuse the eyes but the ears will suggest a respect for the man's comprehension of classic hip hop and Skratch Pikl influenced turntablism.
Ordinarily, turntablist mixtapes realize a long shelf-life and Dirtchamber Sessions' extraordinary style is sure to surpass the norm-subliminally, its longevity may be similar to that of the classic pairing of Run DMC and Aerosmith.
