Dirtlow Rake is a half mile of pure unadulterated fun - look for "the kamikaze" on www.mtbbritain.co.uk for a video of it.
I've never done that last bit of Dirtlow Rake, Is it less hairy than the alternative Limestone Way down into Castleton?
We kept right at the Pindale Quarry, thought twice about the nettle covered 50 foot near verticle drop.

Follow this road through quarry and bear left on to the Kamikaze (called Dirtlow Rake on the map, must make a note to get OS to change this!).
At the end of the Kamikaze join tarmac road for a short downhill section of 200 yards then turn right on to broken tarmac road at line of trees.
Follow down between walls, then straight down through Pindale Valley (a very old abandoned quarry) bearing left slightly on to single track sections.

It was another of those stop on line B and restart in your own time jobs.
Dirtlow Rake was scheduled to immediately follow the special test, but the deviation was in very bad condition so it was cancelled making Putwell next on the agenda.

Police were searching for the missing body of a man they believed to have been murdered at his home in Hope.
The suspected murderer knew the area of Bradwell Moor adjacent to the Hope Cement Works intimately and DCRO were asked to investigate certain mine workings, caves and shafts in case the body or other evidence had been dumped in them.
A team of twenty assembled to carry out the search and working in two groups the covered Pindale and Dirtlow Rake in detail and also descended a number of shafts elsewhere (including Bird Mine).

 Hope Cement Works Railway
Given the industrial nature of the traffic, the line is surprisingly rural in nature, running for 1½ miles (nearly 2 km) through attractive, leafy countryside.
Leaving the works site heading north west, the line begins to drop sharply, passing under Pindale Road before turning north.
