  Dirty Pair
The Dirty Pair, Kei and Yuri, are two scantily clad and heavily armed intergalactic cops in the 22nd Century.
The antics of the Dirty Pair were originally serialized in Japan's SF Magazine and later recounted in three novellas.
The nickname "Dirty Pair" is a rather unfortunate nom de guerre for the Lovely Angels, based upon their reputation.

  AAW: Dirty Pair Flash Review
That said, Dirty Pair Flash is really nothing more memorable than any of a dozen other action OAV series, while the original has managed to remain relatively popular for over 20 years and spawn a series of original comics in addition to the half dozen movies, OAVs and TV series.
The new Kei and Yuri aren't supposed to be the same Pair, but they're barely even recognizable as the descendants (or cousins or something) they're supposed to be--they're a much more generic anime duo now and their relationship is more outright war than antagonism.
For those who don't know, Dirty Pair Flash is (loosely) based on an old anime series which was in turn based on a series of Japanese-language novels; this Kei and Yuri are supposed to be descendants of the original Lovely Angels.

Dirty Pair Flash is related to the original Dirty Pair, with the same characters but there are some changes.
Dirty Pair Flash was released later but it is something of a prequel, showing the two main characters on their first assignments.
Their codename is \'Lovely Angels\' but it\'s easy to see why they are eventually known as the Dirty Pair, not in a naughty way, but because they tend to leave ruination wherever they go.

Absolute Anime / Dirty Pair: Project Eden
Project Eden is one of the feature length adventures that our heroines embark on during their distinguished career, and out of the all the Dirty Pair anime I have seen to date, is probably my favorite.
This adventure shows the "original" Kei and Yuri in both their faults and finest moments.
And as much as you may like (or hate) the girls in Dirty Pair Flash, they have now matured into two extremely beautiful (Yuri especially), dangerous (particularly Kei), extremely skilful ladies, and two very special friends.

However, the original incarnation of the Dirty Pair is something to behold, and Project Eden is one of their better entries.

For better or for worse, the Dirty Pair are the epitome and finest example of the "girls with guns" genre.

Original Dirty Pair | Anime Reviews | SCI FI Weekly
Code-named The Lovely Angels, and more often referred to as The Dirty Pair, they zip around the galaxy in the service of the 3WA (World Welfare and Works Agency), cheerfully taking on amazingly dangerous cases in order to fully exploit their deep-seated personal love of large weapons and large explosions.
After the irritating high-gloss, high-pitched, low-art tone of the more recent Dirty Pair Flash series, these older OVAs are a pleasant return to Kei and Yuri's original image, which included brains as well as breasts.
The Pair is still a source of fast-paced caper comedy, as they brazenly shoot down anything that moves, riffing endlessly on the local cute guys and on each others' faults.

The Critical Eye | Dirty Pair: Project Eden
The Dirty Pair have passed through several creative hands as the years have gone by; first they were two characters in a book by Haruka Takachiho (creator of Crusher Joe), and then came the animated adaptations for TV, video, and the big screen.
The Dirty Pair, you see, is a nickname; Kei and Yuri's team codename is really "Lovely Angels." They acquired the Dirty Pair moniker due to a little problem of theirs: while they usually get the job done, they also tend to accidentally cause large amounts of collateral damage.
And there you have the Dirty Pair formula, in a nutshell: action, a lot of humour, and two cute girls who are allowed to carry just a little too much weaponry for anyone's good.

Dirty Pair is a show I took a long time to get around to watching, because I was mislead by the title to think that it would be a very "adult" title, or at least to have a lot of fan-service.
The pair are typically in very revealing bikini-like costumes, which are apparently their "normal clothes" in a futuristic society where this is apparently unusual, but not shocking.
Moreover, Dirty Pair is good science fiction, which is a bit unusual for anime, where shinto magic too often seems to substitute for physics.

Indeed their nickname, the `dirty pair' is much better known and feared throughout the galaxy, by both criminals and law-abiding citizens.
Kit them out with lots of gadgets and weapons to go with their skills and the dirty pair are actually a fairly tough bunch of trouble-shooters.
Likewise the dirty pair themselves, despite quite a lot of flesh on show, don't match the modern anime vision of a `sexy' girl.

AAW: Dirty Pair Flash Quick Review
On its own, Dirty Pair Flash is a decent 90s action series.
As a series bearing the name Dirty Pair, Flash is a disappointment--it's been modernized and cleaned up, which effectively removes the B-movie charm that makes the original memorable.
if you're a fan of the original Dirty Pair, you may well be disappointed at this cleaner, less-sleazy, less-fun re-envisioning, but Dirty Pair Flash does manage to hold its own as a solid if generic light action series.

The attacker soon reveals herself to be a seven year old girl who heralds from a long line of illustrious assassins, and codename Sweet Fairy has chosen her first target to be the notorious W3A agents Yuri and Kei.
Some may find the fanservice surrounding this young girl unacceptable (her costume change leaves little to the imagination), but I'm sure the more liberal among us won't be so offended considering the lighthearted nature of the show and relatively tame exploitation involved.
Fittingly, she is forced to live in a giant, life-size doll house complete with removable front wall and twee furnishings by a rich, spoilt son of a billionaire who has an unhealthy obsession with the apparently pure and innocent Yuri.

The original Dirty Pair TV series, screened on Japanese TV in 1985, was based on a series of novels by Haruka Takachiho ("Crusher Joe"), and as you may have guessed he named the main elements of the show after female Japanese wrestling icons, in particular a wrestling pair named the "Beauty Pair".
The only problems I had with the comics were the lack of sound effects in most of the issues, and some of the shots they've picked didn't really convey the actual action as was depicted in the anime.

Yuri is the feminine of the two-vain and a bit self-centered but a crack shot with a plasma rifle, while her partner Kei is a take-no-prisoners powerhouse of martail skill, unstoppable once she gets going.
