		“Gereg” is the new album by the highly-respected, traditional Mongolian sextet, Egschiglen.
		It is their fourth CD for the German Heaven & Earth label, and sees them continue their innovative, modern reinterpretation of their musical culture, using their distinctive throat-singing and yodelling techniques.

	Electric Light Orchestra
		The first section of the album is a near masterpiece, the heavy orchestration of the previous sets has disappeared and has been replaced with a far mellower sound, sweet infectious melodies wrap themselves up and intertwine themselves throughout the first four tracks as they drift gracefully and seamlessly into each other.
		Still the album lifts itself with the arrival of the first vocal track “Waterfall”, its the first of the Lynne trademark ballads on this set with a real middle of the road, commercial sound pushing the band away from the artistic, progressive format that semi dominated the previous sets.
		The album closes with what I believe was the fourth single from the album “Wild West Hero”, a piano led ballad that sparks into life with another of Lynne’s folk/pop choruses and a effective country/rock bridge.

		Discovery is the 2001 second album by Daft Punk.
		It marks a shift in the sound from the Chicago house that they were previously known for to disco-style synth-pop, a notably jarring move for fans of Homework.
		This album has a lot to do with our childhood and the memories of the state we were in at that stage of our lives.

		Discovery is by no means the same record, though.
		Deserting the shrieking acid house hysteria of their early work, the album moves in the same smooth filtered disco circles as the European dance smashes ("Music Sounds Better With You" and "Gym Tonic") co-produced by DP's Thomas Bangalter during the group's long interim.
		The only problems on Discovery arise when Daft Punk compensate for the album's lack of six-minute dance tracks by including a few too many half-developed productions like "High Life" and the ambient piece "Nightvision." One other crime is burying the highlight of the entire LP near the end.

		This new direction was immediately evident in the fact that the strings section had been dispensed with, leaving the core of ELO quartet down to Lynne (vocals, guitars); Bev Bevan (drums), Richard Tandy (keyboards) and Kelly Groucutt (bass).
		Discovery is probably one of the finest examples of making a commercial record without compromising artistic pop values.
		Unfortunately, due probably to the high quality of the album itself, good outtakes were difficult to come by, hence the rather inferior nature of this reissue's 'bonus' tracks.

		Though the album was released on a CD, the tracklisting on the back of the album lists the songs on separate "sides" as if it were a vinyl record or a cassette tape.
		The album was recorded between May 1999 and February 2000 at Pet Sounds Recording Studio (Denver, Colorado) using a 16-track tape machine and the Elephant 6 Mainframe Computer.
		Album art for the album was created by Star Keene (architectural drawings), Steeve Keene (interior paintings) and Richard Peterson (photographs).

		Appropriately enough, the name of one tune on "Discovery" is "Digital Love." They have had only one official photo session, ever.
		Still, anonymity or not, "Discovery" was reviewed as nothing less than "the greatest album ever" by the British dance music journal Mixmag.
		Trade magazines have called their business practices "revolutionary." When you buy "Discovery," for instance, you get a membership card in what's called the Daft Club.

		Taken as a whole, 'Discovery' is a compelling concoction of styles that continually surprises.
		The album isn't so much fun as it is silly, and while Daft Punk's members may just be musical smart-alecks, funk hasn't sounded this resoundingly stupid since Bootsy Collins' squiggly solo work.
		The album slows down a bit on the second side which is why I've docked them a point but all in all a very important and enjoyable album.

		This is the best album Daft Punk have made, its much more better then their first and most recent albums, this album actually sounds like its completly finished, it uses a lot of samples but its still brillant!
		P.S. I think I first heard this album on a Gap Jeans ad with that actress Juliette Lewis (natural born killers) dancing with the daft punk robots (was that the actual guys?) to Digital Love.

	Mike Oldfield : Discovery - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
		With 1984's Discovery, Mike Oldfield seems to be back on track, utilizing the vocal power of Maggie Reilly and the drum playing of Simon Phillips to create some rather appealing selections.
		"The Lake" is a simply gorgeous instrumental inspired by Switzerland's Lake Geneva, the location in which the album was recorded, while "To France" is a powerful pop/rock tune based on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots.
		Discovery peaked at number 15 in the U.K., and even though it didn't garner much attention elsewhere, it serves as one of Mike Oldfield's most entertaining releases from the decade.

		I eventually bought the albums and found Daft Punk's work to be pretty good, Gorillaz's to be okay.
		I actually bought "Discovery" several years ago a short while after the clips taken from "Interstella 5555" were on screen.
		About 1 year and a half ago, a music TV channel broadcasted the whole "Interstella 5555" anime and I was quite surprised that its OST was in fact the whole Discovery album (since there's a big gap between the continuity of the four first tracks and the fifth).
