Discussion and clarification of PPP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
PPP could also have difficulty accounting for differences in quality between goods in one country and equivalent goods in another, see: consumer price index.
Even if a good PPP is used, GDP per capita is still a measure of the economic output of the whole economy, not a direct measure of the mean or median person's quality of life.
The PPP exhange rate is 1.023 from 1980 to 2002, and the "constant" and "current" price is the same in 2000, because that's the base year for the "constant" (inflation adjusted) currency.

Purchasing power parity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PPP exchange rates are used in international comparisons of standard of living.
PPP is a theoretical exchange rate derived from the perceived parity of purchasing power of a currency in relation to another currency.
The naïve PPP hypothesis is that free trade of goods should revert exchange rates to their PPP values.

Even if the PPP "value" of the chinese currency is five times stronger than the currency exchange rate, it won't buy five times as much of internationally traded goods, but non-traded goods like housing, services("haircuts") and domestically produced rice.
While using PPP exchange rates for comparison is an improvement over using actual exchange rates, it is still imperfect, and comparisons using the PPP method can still be misleading.
PPP could also have difficulty accounting for differences in quality between goods in one country and equivalent goods in another.

The empirical result from the regression shows that the financial position of the third sector depends on the degree of the partnership, which means that there exists the incentive problem associated with the structure of the third sector.

Groups opposing the PPP are worried about the displacement of local people and the destruction of their culture, environment, and livelihood as small farmers.
You were, I believe, talking about indulging in unnecessarily sorting out the grammatical meaning of issues, as in say, "parsing the meaning of values" as discussed earlier; I was talking about defamation of character issues, as in pissing on one another's character qualities or intelligence, or other unflattering implications.

More processed and expensive products are likely to be tradable, falling into the first category, and drifting from the PPP exchange rate to the currency exchange rate.
The relative price differential between tradables and non-tradables from high-income to low-income countries is a consequence of the Balassa-Samuelson effect, and gives a big cost advantage to labour intensive production of tradable goods in low income countries (like China), as against high income countries (like Switzerland).
Other factors such as the standards of homes and schools, access to public services, the extent of pollution, and strength of consumer protection laws are hard to quantify and generally not fully reflected in the Gross domestic product GDP.

They have also said that such returns cannot be set at a specific level or according to a pre-determined formula, since they are subject to changes in economic conditions stemming from the state of the general economy and the positions of the specific companies concerned.

Jeff noted that this is currently a hot topic in discussions of e-commerce: perceiving risk calls for trust, with the level of risk determining the cost of the trust.
Steve clarified that this is just the sort of situation that his group's discussion had in mind: healthy trust needs to be mutual, so we should not give doctors our blind trust, yet neither should we trust ourselves to the exclusion of another person's expertise.

While testosterone converts to the more active steroid dihydrotestosterone (3-4 times greater AR affinity) upon interaction with the 5-alpha reductase enzyme in various androgenic target tissues such as the skin, scalp, prostate, CNS and liver, nandrolone drops to a third of its original potency by converting to the weak steroid dihydronandrolone[ii].
