 diskdrake formating troubles - MandrivaUsers.org
I have moved all the data off of the /home2 partition, so there is nothing on the disk anymore, and I have deleted all the partitions and recreated them several times with many reboots.
DiskDrake saw the two partitions with no problem, and I was able to mount the partitions with no errors.
The only thing I could see that was different in the way PM formatted the disk, is that it made the first partition a logical partition, even though I asked for a primary partition, so the disk is now formatted with two logical ext3 partitions.

 Newbie Read: A Diskdrake Experience - MandrivaUsers.org
I used diskdrake earlier to shrink a partition from 2.8gb to 2.ogb.
And I actually enjoy working with diskdrake, it has a nice GUI, it is quick and easy and I have had very few problems, except having to modify lilo after making changes (which takes half a minute).
Anyway, i'll still probably use diskdrake in the future should the need arise i knew how to fix things the last two times, and i can get help here should something bad happen.

Lost partitions - Cyber Tech Help Support Forums
The partitioning back up function from GUI frontend to DiskDrake looks great and it is cute; but it is not intended to help you if your main system hard drive crash.
If you dislike Mandrake tools, or cannot install diskdrake for any reason, the recommendations in the HOW-TO's are easy to follow and may be very effective, provided you have read them prior to the crash (and followed the recommendations too, of course).
I would recommend you to keep both the back up file from DiskDrake and the paper copy: the back up file is rather useful, but a sheet of paper is more difficult to reformat.

December 1st, 2005, 10:07 PM I know Azz is convinced DiskDrake (http://qa.mandriva.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/DiskDrake) and GParted are the same, but they're not.
Also, the fact that the live cd will mount and use a swap partition prevents you from partitioning that disk if you do not know that you have to unmount it.
The only thing that could be a big problem with DiskDrake is that it is a big download for such a small application - especially since most users post with either an ubuntu install cd or both the live and install cd in-hand.

 Removing a RAID disk
I am using Mandrake 10 The machine has 3 disks in it - one holds the OS and the other two are on a separate controller (1 channel for each) and are configured as a Raid 1 array.
So I have "hda" with the OS in it & "hde" & "hdg" which are partitioned as Linux Raid (using diskdrake) & then added to Md0 & formatted as a single ext3 partition.
You would of course get to see error messages or warnings that the array is running in degraded mode, but it should be perfectly possible to boot up like that and to have the system running as such for the time being.

JustLinux Forums - major major partition table problem
i installed Mandrake 9.0 on the drive, using DiskDrake to partition my drive so that it was set up with Windows as the first partition, then the Linux partitions (boot, root, home...i think) and then two partitions for data and storage.
i also went back in to DiskDrake from the install to see how it recognized my partitions and, surprise surprise, it showed only my windows partition and a partition that represented all my other partitions, combined into one, and empty.
I tried that, and it was able to show me how the Linux partitions were defined (ie where it started and stopped), but couldn't show me anything about the other two partitions that contained my data (they were FAT32 partitions while the Linux partitions were set up as ext3).
