Dismember is a Swedish death metal band, formed in Stockholm in 1988 (see 1988 in music.
After a hiatus, the band began recording in earnest in 1991 and released their debut, Ever Flowing Stream[?] in 1991 (see 1991 in music).
While many of the other Scandinavian death metal bands began softening their sound in the mid-1990s, Dismember's Indecent and Obscene[?] was as close as they ever came to the mainstream, and they soon returned to their hardcore roots.

Dismember has barely let their sound evolve beyond that old school Scandinavian Death Metal sound that is so early 90's.
Dismember's world relevance as far as influential Swedish outfits is concerned, is out of the question; 1991's Like an Everflowing Stream (1991) proudly stands next to Entombed's Left Hand Path (1990).
The problem is that Dismember is not AC/DC and their stubborn refusal to at the very least move up an inch in technicality or in writing skills, does not serve the band well.

Dismember is back with a new album, new line-up and a new label, but one thing that has not changed is its strong allegiance to the so-called Sunlight Sound it helped popularize.
The band is the quintessential Swedish death metal band and in 2004 is not only focused on maintaining its status and playing for keeps, but taking things one step further with a new vigour and a new push.
Dismember will be playing live in several countries and with the release of the DVD and the new editions of its catalogue is promising to be in the fans' faces for the next year or so.

Being a big fan of Dismember and the old Swedish death metal sound in general meant that the chances of me enjoying this album were immensely high and fortunately, I was not disappointed.
Whilst some people disdain the changes the band have incorporated into their sound over the years (however slight they may be), I'm quite happy with the way the band has progressed since Massive Killing Capacity and if you enjoyed Death Metal & Hate Campaign, you will enjoy Where Iron Crosses Grow as well.
Dismember perform their music with style & class and as such, Where Iron Crosses Grow comes recommended to both fans of the band and of the genre alike.

DISMEMBER are to the European DM scene what such U.S. mainstays such as CANNIBAL CORPSE and MORBID ANGEL are to the flhearted masses on this side of the big pond: steadfast, true, and ever-reliable purveyors of the heaviest of the heavy.
The performance is tight and high energy and shows a band who - despite their age and longevity - show no signs yet of losing the fire and hunger that initially fuelled them in their youth.
Overall however, this is in general a fine expose of a band who have thus far managed to remain firmly rooted in the underground, yet who have also attained a degree of success well beneath the media spotlight for many years now.

Thinking of everything afterwards that was between the band and them, we basically had to fight all the time with them as they hardly agreed on anything with us what we would have wanted to do in order get some things done.
At that time Dismember had to do the US tour, so we gave a call to him and asked if he was willing to do that tour with us and he agreed.

According to Dismember’s drummer Fred Estby, the secret to success and longevity in the death metal scene comes down to one important factor: pacing.
I mean, these death metal bands have taken death metal as far as they can and now are taking the full turn back to the early roots of where it came from.
There are many people who would say bands that sing about the war, use iron crosses as symbols – and Motörhead has faced this too – that the band is somehow promoting a strong NS theme and viewpoint.

With lyrics about the Holocaust, life and death as well as anti-religious statements the Swedish band Dismember creates another album to be classified as melodic death metal, although of the heavier kind, and to no surprise the label name is Nuclear Blast.
Unfortunately Dismember produces rather conventional death metal in the old Swedish style but they still do it with great skill and if you like this kind of music "Hate Campaign" will be a very interesting album.
The band members are talented musicians I have to admit (but who isn´t if they are signed to Nuclear Blast?) and among them you can find the bass player Sharlee D´Angelo who used to be with King Diamond in Mercyful Fate, one of the big old names in metal.

And propelling the band along is drummer Fred Estby, who, with his short hair and baseball cap, looks like he’d more comfortable at a sports bar than bashing the shit out of his drum kit, but man can he play, and the thrash and blastbeat drumming is precise.

As an original, old school Swedish death metal band -- who, like Entombed, blossomed between 1990 and 1991, and were heavily influenced by Autopsy and Repulsion, among a host of other usual suspects like Slayer -- Dismember command a lot of respect in the metal underground.
I mean, as we see it, we are just Dismember -- and during the latest years, with the last releases of the albums and the live shows that we've done, somehow there has grown like a reputation of, "Dismember, old-school veterans, they're not giving up".
I think Dismember have the potential to get really quite high marks in the magazines who really like Hypocrisy and quite a lot of the other melodic Swedish bands, who are very popular.

Dismember is one of the fathers of Swedish death metal, arriving on the scene at end of the eighties, along with compatriots such as Edge Of Sanity, At The Gates, and Entombed.
But while the other aforementioned bands are gone (or, in the latter case, no longer in the death metal field), Dismember continues to proudly wave the banner of prime Swedish death metal.
In general, early/mid Entombed is the band that Dismember most closely resembles, though neither is a clone of the other.
