Dispatch (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The band originated in the early 1990s as One Fell Swoop, and The Longfellow Frenzy, but soon changed their name to Dispatch, after a dispute with another band of the same name.
During concerts, the band was known to improvise upon their album releases, often resulting in a song running twice the length of the original.
Dispatch came out with a movie entitled The Last Dispatch in July 2005, which chronicles their final 12 days together as a band and tells the story of how they became "the band that redefined independent music history".

Dispatch differs from mobile voice communications offered by personal communications services ("PCS") and cellular carriers because it is generally not interconnected with the public switched telephone network and allows instant, real-time conferencing with groups, including both one-to- many and many-to-one communications.
Trunked dispatch service has been slow to develop in the 450 MHz band because the band is licensed on a shared basis, meaning that multiple co-channel licenses may be granted in the same service area.
Given that the current state of technology does not permit dispatch calling in a roaming mode, such a condition would not remedy any alleged harm to a trunked dispatch marketplace, which is the basis for Southern's expressed concerns about this transaction.

In the early days, Dispatch had to do it all themselves—drive from venue to venue in their trusty used van, “Wimpy,” and set up their own audio equipment in hopes that the shows in the Wetlands or the small local bars would grow into something bigger.
Because all three member of Dispatch sing and play a variety of instruments, it would be harder for them to fall into the trap that causes tension in many bands, namely the lead-singer-vs.-back-up-guys rut.
The band had to make a tough decsion to continue recording the song when Chad’s grandfather passed away and subsequently added a recording of the war veteran speaking about his experiences in combat that can only be heard when the song is played at full volume.

Dispatch is an acoustic rock band that incorporates Reggae and Funk beats, lots of bongos, and occasionally a classical guitar.

The filmmakers say the Hatch Shell show is considered the biggest indie-rock show ever held (it was free) and Dispatch's underdog credibility is why so many fans came from as far away as South Africa and Brazil to attend it.
The film captures the 12 days leading up to and including the show, catching the band in rehearsals and in soul-searching moments, as well as at a barbecue at Urmston's family home in Sherborn and at a neighbor's barn at nearby Charlescote Farm.
The band's attempted democracy eventually crumbled as each member wrote new tunes that he felt deserved the most attention.

The state of California filed a notice of appeal Oct. 26 with the Interior Board of Indian Appeals disputing a determination made by the Department of the Interior that the Ione Band is a restored tribe and that Plymouth parcels are restored lands.
The restored lands determination was requested by the Ione Band of Miwok Indians, which has already filed a pending fee-to-trust application with the Department of the Interior, the first step toward building a proposed gaming facility in Plymouth.
Pinal stated that the band has not established an historical connection to the land, as there is no evidence current tribe members have ancestors buried near Plymouth nor any linking current members to those who signed a historic treaty in the area.
