		In some situations the images displayed on the screen constantly change, but in other cases some areas of the screen, or the screen as a whole, change very little (the taskbar in Microsoft Windows, for example).
		When the same image is displayed on a CRT screen for long periods of time, the properties of the exposed areas of phosphor coating on the inside of the screen gradually and permanently change, eventually leading to a darkened shadow or "ghost" image on the screen.
		LCD computer monitors, including the display panels used in laptop computers, are not susceptible to burn-in because the image is not directly produced by phosphors (although they can suffer from a less extreme and usually non-permanent form of image persistence).

		I haven't seen the new new bright displays, but I'm skeptical that these would be bright enough to work outdoors in bright sun either.
		First there is the outer casing of the LCD (note: not the housing, but another case that the LCD is in internally, which is metal), then there is a layer of white, non-translucent plastic after that, and then a few layers of special optical plastic that spread the light from the backlights evenly.
		When I hold my display, as is, up to light with the backlight off, I can see light coming through the Apple logo on the housing...

		I also applied the Quartz Extreme hack (dropping 16MB VRAM minimum to 8MB, doing a 'sudo pico' in the Terminal), and it appears to be working fine as well.
		To test the hack before committing it to flash, I suggest that the boot script be run--BUT NOT SAVED--using the commands "nvrun" and then "mac-boot" instead of "nv-store" and "setenv".
		I tried both sleeping the machine and plugging in the VGA display, and also booting it with the adapter plugged in, and both times the Displays control panel did not recognise a second display, only providing the option to mirror...

		If you don't use this particular timestamp format the hack won't be able to compare the dates of the different comments to determine which was posted more recently.

		If you wish to control an X11 display with x2vnc, you need to use x11vnc, but it's probably easier to just use x2x instead.

		How about this: a hack that causes the DCCD display (the little triangles) to show the actual amount of lockup applied when the car is in auto mode (the display is typically dark then other than the auto light).
		There are quite a few parameters my GTR display on the LCD screen, the only thing I look at now during normal driving is the oil temp., water temp.
		The display on the GTR do in fact have a 30 seconds data logging function, the bad thing is it doesn't record.

		Early in my hacking of the Pilot I didn't know what any of the APIs were or how to call them but I needed to get some kind of feedback from my test programs as they executed.
		Use Pilot Hack to view screen memory ("h 63b0" or whatever is right for your Pilot) and you'll see (in hex) the values that make up the display, 20 (decimal) bytes per scan line.
		To write Pilot Hack I needed to be able to handle various events like Graffiti handwriting events, button presses, etc. I added an event trace facility to Pilot Hack to view these events and their arguments.

		Back in 1997 Silicosis of L0pht (sili@l0pht.com) wrote a bit of exploit code for nix systems that allows you to set the text that displays* on the little LCD panel of an HP printer.
		I decide to write a new version in VB that uses WMI to see what printers you already have set up and allows you to check off the printers you want to display your message on.
		It's usage is pretty self explanatory, just type in and IP of the JetDirect box or choose from the ones that the program finds on your computer then hit "Send Display".
