The Text Outline Project: some preliminary thoughts about requirements (Requirements v. 1)
Also, when one clicks on a text reference displayed under a chunk (see outline example), this should (by default?) center the display in the next (third) column, the text, on the part of the text from which the chunk is taken.
The outline should be displayed in such a way that a large number of results are displayed as part of the same outline, with non-matching nodes being collapsed and invisible.
Then the user might open up a given text and, at the same time, be shown a list of places where the search terms are found in the text, together with a summary of the chunks in which the search terms are found.

Whether or not text is justified by default (that is, whether the default environment is "flushleft", "flushright", or "flushboth") is unspecified, and depends on the preferences of the user, the capabilities of the local software and hardware, and the nature of the character set in use.

 Fonts and Text Layout
To properly display text in languages such as Hebrew and Arabic, each individual character needs to be measured and positioned within the context of neighboring characters.
In bidirectional text or in text with ligatures, this behavior would cause the caret to jump across glyphs at direction boundaries and move in the reverse direction within different directional runs.
When text is displayed across multiple lines, the length of the lines is usually determined by the width of the display area.

 Text Wrapping in MIDP
When long pieces of text are displayed on the small screens of cell phones and other small devices, they often "wrap to the next line," and this behavior can reduce the usability of wireless Java applications.
If the application treats each line of text as a separate element, but the user assumes that the split is merely an artifact of text wrapping, subsequent behavior may be mystifying.
If a string of text is likely to wrap to multiple lines, you should make it clear that the second and subsequent lines are parts of the same element, and do not represent new items.
