  Choosing A Distro - A Newbies Guide
I'm not about to name any particular distro as the best (there is no "best"), but I'll try to help you narrow down the list to some distros that will suit your own needs.
Distros such as Debian and Slackware seem to appeal to the more experienced users, who have less need for graphical configuration tools, easy installers and "hand holding" in general.
Knoppix- This is the best known of the distros that boot and run directly from the cd-rom, without having to install onto the hard drive.

Distro is, essentially, a replacement for RegisterClientScriptBlock() and similar functions in ASP.Net.
In this way, the author of the user control has control over what scripts are required for his control and where they go in the page output, while still maintaining proper separation of style and logic.
Each distro control has a property called EmbedOnce which controls whether the resource will be embedded each time it is referenced or only once per page.

Linux distribution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While the general philosophy of Linux has to do with free and open software, it is believed that each distribution, except its unique differences, has also its own philosophy which is good for a user but isn't for another.
Each distro therefore has formed its own micro-community inside the wider Linux community, and the community istself influences the philosophy of the distro.
The term "distribution" often suffices and is at least sufficent enough to distinguish free operating systems like Linux/GNU/BSD from commercial operating systems such as Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X.

Linux Desktop Distro Shootout Part IV: LindowsOS 4.5 - OSNews.com
After three years of jumping from one Linux distro to another, the main thing that strikes me about all these many distros is their absolute similarity to each other.
Each new DE version release sparks a renewal of the holy war to make sure that *their* distro is the first to incorporate the latest (and therefore greatest) version of KDE or Gnome or whatever.
Judging from the evidence of my own eyes, I have concluded that Linux distro developers regard their end users as either being capable of writing their own device drivers in assembly language, or being too stupid to live.

 Urban Dictionary: distro
Distros often have common elements (kernel, desktop environs, etc) but are released with different configurations, programs and installers by different organizations.
Generally speaking they don't turn much of a profit as stocking and selling their products is a labor of love, much as it is for those who create what they sell.
Additionally, the process for being distributed (or distro'ed) is much less formal than with conglomerate publishers - sometimes zinesters can just send in a note and a copy of their zine and, if the owner of the distro likes it, they'll agree to sell any number of copies.

Asking someone else which distro is best for you is like asking them how you should write a Perl script: there's infinitely more ways than one to do it, and the solution you come up with will undoubtedly look unlike anyone else's.
Different distros treat things differently enough that jumping from distro to distro until you find one that "just works" will only cause you to pull your hair out.
Stick with a distro (unless, maybe, if some hardware is not supported at all - please realise that most distributions offer alternative kernels that may well work fine with your hardware..) and fix the issues you face - every issue you fix is one less.
