Division II (or DII) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Many Division II schools frequently schedule matches against members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, which is something of a rival collegiate sports sanctioning authority to the NCAA which specializes primarily in smaller institutions.
Division II schools in non-revenue sports are often quite competitive; the difference in the level of competition between the two divisions is often considerably less in these sports than it is in football and men's basketball.

At its meeting last week, the Division II Presidents’ Council took steps toward trying to make Division II football a game more representative of the division’s diversity and supported recommendations from the Football Task Force to develop legislation to create two national championship brackets.
I would love to see the D2-A division have a max scholarship level of around 45 scholarships and also allow schools that are already D1 for all their sports to be able to drop their football teams down to D2-A if they want to, and keep their other sports D1 if they wish to.

Interpretation: During the 2006 NCAA Convention, the NCAA Division II membership adopted Proposal No. 32 which amended NCAA Division II Bylaw 15.5.2.2-(b) to specify the method in which a student-athlete's financial aid equivalency may be calculated.

Interpretation: NCAA Divisions I and II institutions should note that pursuant to NCAA Divisions I and II Bylaw 13.14.3.1, an institution may subscribe to a regularly published scouting service involving prospects, provided the service is made available to all institutions desiring to subscribe and at the same fee rate for all subscribers.

 Duma Qualifies for NCAA Division II Championships
