  CNTV Bolsters Animation Program With Studio Upgrade and Professorial Appointment
Vibeke Sorensen, director of Cinema-TV's division of animation and digital arts; second-year master of fine arts graduate student Michael Lang; and filmmaker Christine Panushka.
The animation studio was inaugurated and Panushka welcomed at a reception and open house Nov. 5, which featured tours of the studio's cutting-edge graphics facilities.
She became director of the division of animation and digital arts the following year, revising the curriculum and expanding the facilities.

Digital Arts is the first new division in the Wits School of Arts.
In 2003, Digital Arts launched a series of courses allowing for a digital multimedia specialisation within the existing MA, and MA Dramatic Arts programmes.

After graduating from Visual Communication at Sydney College of the Arts in 1985 she was awarded the Sydney Morning Herald Traveling Arts Scholarship for painting and in 1986 the Desidirius Orban Youth Art Award from the Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council.
In 1994 she was selected for the Australian Network for Art and Technology summer residency and it was here that she started her research in combining 2D oil painted sequences onto 3D forms.

The curriculum provides an interdisciplinary foundation in digital skills and theory/criticism, plus advanced course work in discipline-specific areas within the visual arts, media arts, and performing arts.
Students in the program are required to complete an internship, to pass a senior portfolio review, and to fulfill major requirements for an undergraduate degree in a creative arts area in order to receive the certificate.
Program application is limited to undergraduate majors in the College of Creative Arts who have earned at least 56 units, have completed foundation work (core courses) in their major area with a GPA of at least 3.4, and have completed their lower division English proficiency requirement (see below).

Bill Moritz's death is a deep and profound loss to our community in animation and visual music, both here in Los Angeles, including USC and CalArts, and around the world.
Bill was the authority, whenever we were in doubt about any film or color-sound instrument, almost anywhere and at anytime in history, especially the most rare and obscure, or delicate, he always knew the details.
He was our 'rock', our 'reference point,' our 'home.' He opened his expanding universe of light, music, and the transcendent in art to all of us.

I was a student of Mar at USC's Division of Animation and Digital Arts, Cinema-TV, and WINTER inspired me tremendously because it used music and images in a very harmonious way.
Well, the approach that I used was an attempt at using the principles of experimental animation that Mar covered in class here at VC.
I have to be the idea creator, the storyboard artist, the director, the actor (sometimes), the animator, and the editor--you have to chart out the creative path as well as figure out how you are going to use the artistic tools.
