The Division of Bass is an Australian Electoral Division in Tasmania.
The division was created in 1903 and is named for the explorer George Bass.
His resignation in 1975 was followed by Labor's heavy defeat in the Bass by-election, which is seen as the beginning of the end of the Whitlam government.

 Bass lifted by hotel gains - May 25, 2000
Bass, which runs the Holiday Inn and Inter-Continental chains, announced restructuring plans in February which may include the sale of Britain's second-largest brewing business, allowing it to focus on its hotel and leisure interests.

To help conserve the smallmouth bass population, ODNR decreased the legal daily bag limit for smallmouth bass from eight to five, with a minimum length of 14 inches.
To better understand Lake Erie's smallmouth bass population, the Division of Wildlife is conducting studies to determine harvest, smallmouth bass movements, habitat use, stock composition, spawning habitats, early life history and biological factors that affect the bass population.
Bass anglers can expect to land smallies spawned from 1995-1998, which are now ranging in size from 14 to 18 inches.

 Virginia Angler Establishes New Maryland Atlantic Division Striped Bass Record
The female rockfish, which had spawned in the Chesapeake and was migrating north, measured 52 inches in length with a girth of 28.5 inches, and exceeded the previous Atlantic Division record holder of 48 pounds, 2 ounces.
In fact, of the many thousands of striped bass caught and tagged in surveys up and down the Atlantic coast each year, only a handful ever crack the 50-inch threshold.
Had Salp’s fish been caught prior to releasing her eggs in the Chesapeake, it is estimated she would have weighed 16 to 20 percent more, which, in all likelihood, would have broken the current Maryland Chesapeake Bay record as well.
