1999 New South Wales Redistribution Final Report
The augmented Electoral Commission determined that, following from the affirmation of the boundaries of the Divisions of Hunter and Newcastle with the Division of Paterson, the remainder of this region as proposed was appropriate.
The Liberal Party objected to the name of the proposed Division of Berowra, suggesting that it be renamed McMahon to honour the former Prime Minister, the late Sir William McMahon.
While the augmented Electoral Commission recognised that it would be appropriate to name a division after Sir William when a suitable opportunity arises, it determined that it would not be appropriate to change the name of the Division of Berowra, therefore the objection was not upheld.
