	Frank Forde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Born at Mitchell, Queensland (where his father was a grazier), Forde was educated at Catholic schools and became a teacher.
		Forde was a loyal deputy, and in 1941 when Labor returned to power he became Minister for the Army, a vital role in wartime.
		In 1945 Curtin died, and as Deputy Leader Forde was commissioned by the Governor-General as Prime Minister on 6 July.

		Forde was a member of the American Academy of Religion; the board of dialog, A Journal of Theology; the Lutheran-Roman Catholic dialogue; the Commission for the New Lutheran Church, which merged three church bodies to shape the original structure of the ELCA; and the editorial board of The Lutheran Quarterly, new series.
