		Hotham was concerned that the revolt may spread to Melbourne, so he organised naval reinforcements to assist the military and the police.

		Objections to the proposed Divisions of Bruce, Holt and Isaacs
		One objection related to the transfer of the Dergholm area from the Division of Wannon to the Division of Mallee.The augmented Electoral Commission determined that the Redistribution Committee's proposal was appropriate given the aim of retaining entire municipal boundaries in a particular Division wherever possible.
		The third detailed objection suggested that the Division of Gippsland be comprised of the entire Shires of East Gippsland, Wellington, South Gippsland and Bass Coast and that the Division of McMillan be comprised of the City of La Trobe in its entirety, the Shire of Baw Baw and part of the Shire of Cardinia.

		The Division first assembled in the Aldershot area with brigades at Blackdown, Deepcut and Cowshott.
		When in the same month the Division moved to Witlet, Godalming and Guildford, the artillery had to go by train as there was insufficient harness for teh horses.
		The Division was withdrawn after the heavy fighting of the Somme battles, moving on 20th April 1918 to an area south west of Amiens.
