  Judy Rankin nominated for LPGA Hall of Fame
After a successful career as an LPGA Tour player and Solheim Cup captain, Judy Rankin moved closer to the LPGA Hall of Fame as she was nominated by the Veteran's Committee for entry consideration.
Rankin must receive a 75 percent vote of the ballots cast by the membership at the upcoming meeting on May 2 to gain entry.
Rankin won 26 tournaments during her 22-year career, including seven victories in 1976.

Rankin (AKA-103), an attack cargo ship, was laid down on 31 October 1944 as MC hull 1702 by North Carolina Shipbuilding Co., Wilmington, N.C.; launched 22 December 1944; acquired by the Navy 25 January 1945; ferried to the Charleston Navy Yard for conversion to an AKA; and commissioned 25 February 1945, Lt. Comdr.
On 18 July 1958, Rankin was part of the amphibious force which landed 5,000 U.S. Marines at Beirut, Lebanon, in response to a request from the Lebanese Government for assistance in averting civil war.
During the crisis of October and November 1962, occasioned by the discovery of Russian intermediate-range ballistic missiles in Cuba, Rankin operated in the force which was marshalled [sic; marshaled] in Cuban waters, prepared for any eventuality.

Name Derivation: Named after Dame Annabelle Rankin 1908-86, first Queensland woman elected to the Senate 1946-71 and the first Australian woman to hold a top-level diplomatic post as High Commissioner to New Zealand 1971-74.
Area and Location Description: Rankin covers an area of approximately 160 sq km taking in some outer suburbs of Brisbane through Logan City, east to the Redland Bay Shire boundary, south to the Logan Freeway along the boundary between Logan and Beaudesert Shires and west to Greenbank, Boronia Heights and Park Ridge.
