		AD (the "official" date is 482), when three brothers, Kyi, Shchek and Khoriv, with their sister Lybid sailing along the Dniper, founded a new city on the right bank of the river and named it after the eldest brother.
		There are many monuments and statues to these mythogical (historical?) siblings around the city, the most famous has them in a boat, with Lybid at the helm, guiding them.

		The taxi driver, Edouard brought us on a wild ride through the woods outside Kiev where police seemed to be stationed every half kilometer, across the Dniper River on a huge bridge and into the city where traffic was busy, but lots of people were walking in the warm late-afternoon sunshine.
