Dnyarri   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
A sentient Dnyarri and a Taalo device that shielded against its powers were both involved in the destruction of the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za's Precursor battle platform, the Sa-Matra.
Ironically, the Dnyarri's masters, the Kzer-Za and the Kohr-Ah, are the best known legacy of the defunct Dnyarri empire as it was the Dnyarri who genetically split the original Ur-Quan species into two races.
The original Dnyarri homeworld, Glilandy, is believed to have been all but destroyed when the Dnyarri empire was overthrown, but the location of that world is not known to the Alliance, so its present condition cannot be confirmed.

Dnyarri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Notable among the members of the Milieu was the Ur-Quan, who were unusually susceptible to Dnyarri telepathic manipulation, and who were for that reason favored slaves of the Dnyarri.
The Dnyarri were eventually defeated when an Ur-Quan scientist, Kzer-Za, discovered that inflicting excruciating, near-lethal pain on oneself could temporarily disrupt the Dnyarri's psychic control, giving an Ur-Quan precious moments of mental freedom to kill the nearest Dnyarri.
The Dnyarri was "accidentally" left in the hold of the Captain's flagship, which was sacrificed to destroy the Sa-Matra, while the Captain and his crew ejected in an escape pod.

 Dnyarri - Ultronomicon
The Ur-Quan were enslaved for thousands of years under the Dnyarri's yoke, and were eventually split in to the Kzer-Za and the Kohr-Ah.
The Dnyarri favored the Ur-Quan over the other species of the Milieu, due to their weak resistance to mind control.
During this period, the Dnyarri re-engineered the Ur-Quan DNA into two types, the green (Kzer-Za) who were the political leaders and scientists, and the fl (Kohr-Ah) who were the builders, warriors, and general "do"ers.

This small sized, amazingly physically strong race was encounted during The Sentient Milieu's exploration of the galaxy, and the Dnyarri quickly siezed on the opportunity for galactic conquest that had been presented to them, and used thier phychic powers to dominate the minds of the races of the Milieu.
The Dnyarri used the dominated Ur-Quan as a weapon, ordering them to dispose of the other races in the Milieu, and in a final act of dammnation, the Ur-Quan were forced to destroy their only friends, the peace loving Taalo.
As for the Dnyarri they were treated under the domination of the Ur-Quan as they had treated thier former slaves: they were bred in such a way that made them useful to the Ur-Quan.

 Talk:Talking Pet (device) - Ultronomicon
Basically, we're told that Dnyarri were assigned one to a planet, yet the neo-Dnyarri maintains control over several systems' worth of planets all by itself.
I'd be very, very surprised if finding a way to get rid of the Dnyarri was an "afterthought"; he'd have to be very stupid, given everything he's learned about the Dnyarri, not to have plan after plan for killing the bastard as soon as he met the thing.
The Dnyarri's powers are clearly severely limited here; if the Dnyarri had been at full strength, there's no reason it wouldn't've commanded all the Ur-Quan to annihilate themselves immediately.
