IFC Films, the one-year old film financing arm of Bravo Networks, has announced that it is financing four movies through its IFC Productions and Next Wave Films companies.
Miramax Film has acquired video, television and non-theatrical U.S. rights to Ted Demme's latest effort, "Monument Ave." The U.S. theatrical release of the crime drama are being handeled by Lions Gate Releasing, which will issue the pic on September 25th.
The film was produced by Ted Demme and Joel Stillerman of Spanky Pictures, Jim Serpico of Apostle, Nicolas Clermont of Filmline International and Elie Samaha of Phoenician Films, and was written by Mike Armstrong.

For the last few years I have traditionally spent three or four days around the end of October at the Jihlava Film Festival, which is now into its ninth year of showing documentary films.
It is a good thing once in a while to take time out to appreciate quality and to reassure oneself that a documentary does not necessarily have to mean talking heads in armchairs interspersed with shorts from the archive, as this genre is so often presented on television.
There are plenty of good films on offer here, the problem is that if you’re not quick enough to see something while it is showing in Jihlava, you’ll have difficulty in finding it during the year.
