		His father was a doctor who was forced to treat the wife of a Latverian baron, but could not save her from her cancer; the baron blamed Werner for his wife's death, and Werner died from exposure to the cold while on the run from the baron and protecting Victor.
		Doom's greatest victory was when, after years of combating Mephisto, he and Dr. Strange finally rescued the soul of Cynthia Von Doom [Victor's mother] from hell, allowing her to pass on to a better afterlife.
