The footsteps were right outside the room at that point, and just before the doors burst open, Merry watched the Doctor and Peter slowly fade from her view, as though they both were cookies crumbling in the wind.

Doctor Who   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-29)
Doctor Who's history is often broken down into the 'eras' of each of the seven actors who portrayed the character in television seasons.
The fact that the wider audience do not evaluate Doctor Who stories in the same way as the DWM community can be seen clearly in the 'audience appreciation figures' for Doctor Who stories which were collected from 'the general public' by the BBC at the time of each story's original broadcast.
DWM shows a consistent awareness of these different criteria; and rarely takes an absolutist position that 'we' (the fan community) are correct, and 'they' (the general public) are wrong [6].

Frobisher is a fictional character who appeared in the Doctor Who Monthly comic strip in the 1980s as a companion of the Sixth Doctor.
He was an alien private eye who had the ability to change into any shape - but preferred, for reasons he never divulged, to spend his free time in the form of a penguin.
Despite not being strictly canon, due to never appearing in the series proper, Frobisher is considered an important part of the Doctor Who mythos.

It seems strange that the Doctor, who has been residing in Stockbridge for some time, and Max, an amateur investigator, are not aware of each other so far.
Max’s strong assertions that there is a presence on the ship, and the Doctor’s attempts to prove him wrong are well-handled, and the reader is left asking for more as the Doctor and Max are forced to leave due to the ship breaking up in the Earth’s atmosphere, thus neatly leading into the next story.
I particularly enjoyed the Doctor's scenes with Max, which are note-perfect for Davison's Doctor and show patient respect for a lunatic that one can't quite imagine from most of the others.
