Center for Documentary Arts: About Us: Documentary Arts in America
Documentary studies is now being taught at both high schools and universities, and “The Documentary Tradition” has entered the lexicon of course work in most university filmmaking, journalism, art, history, ethnic studies, literature, humanities, and documentary studies departments.
At the Center for Documentary Arts, we draw inspiration from ancient and modern, American and international documentary artists; and, in our own backyard, we have discovered the power of oral histories and documentary images to challenge, broaden, and deepen our understanding of contemporary culture.
Documentary work, or the documentary arts, are, for us, a way of navigating and mapping our world, a way of becoming fully human in the face of a complex and ever changing reality.

Just recently launched and still in its early stages of formation, the Canadian Centre for Documentary Photography is a non-profit organization which seeks to fund and otherwise encourage documentary photography projects of social value, especially those that assist charities and other non-profit groups in their public education programs.
