This article is about a metasearch engine, dogpile is also the name of a game where everyone piles on top of each other.
Dogpile began operations in November of 1996 and became part of the Go2net Network in 1999 which in turn was acquired by InfoSpace, Inc. (InfoSpace also owns Metacrawler, Webcrawler and Excite).
Dogpile's mascot is a dalmatian, "Arfie", that fetches search results in news, web, images, and music.

In that context, the Dogpile thing is very popular (over 300k downloads), and I would say it deserves to find it's way into Avant even if not said.
I would suggest adding support for the Dogpile toolbar (http://www.dogpile.com) as it allows RSS feeds on the toolbar as well as multiple search engines.
Dogpile Toolbar is one of the better toolbars around.

Currently Dogpile out performs Ask Jeeves (not to difficult i know) but i have been surprised all the same.
Based on InfoSpace's view of the future, they are certainly not expecting DogPile to do anything amazing...at least on the $ side.

May 12, 2005: Dogpile has been redesigned and has added the ability to easily see which results come from Google, Yahoo!, or Ask Jeeves.
Clicking the button for one or more of the search engines (in the blue bar at the top) opens up a column with the top results from that search engine and those records not available from the others search engines (at least on their first page) are highlighted.
In addition, to demonstrate the lack of overlap between the first page of results at each of the three, Dogpile has introduced a graphic "missing pieces tool." This shows which results are found by three, two, or only one of the search engines.
