A new Dollarama store will be settling in to a new retail space west of Sobey's supermarket this summer.
Dollarama is currently known as Dollarama LP Inc. Private investment firm Bain Capital, a U.S. company based in Boston with more than $20 billion in assets under management and investments in several other Canadian companies, is reported to have bought a share of Dollarama from S. Rossy Group for $1.05 billion in November.
Construction of the Dollarama building is set to be completed by the end of June.

A little over two years ago, in November 2004, the firm was sold to a U.S. equity firm in Boston for a billion dollars U.S. In June 2006, the Financial Post reported that Dollarama was undergoing a major transformation to bulk up for a possible re-sale.
According to the Financial Post, the Boston-based buyout firm paid him $1.03-billion for 80% of Dollarama in November, 2004, and then saddled the retailer with more than $600-million in long-term debt from the leveraged buyout.

Dollarama, who create instruments out of items found in dollar stores, have received a cease and desist order from Canadian franchise retail giant Dollarama to stop using the name.
The band, whose schtick was originally intended as a one-off but backfired for the better just over a year ago, have sought legal counsel and temporarily taken down their website which, according to the order, contained trademark discrepancies.

I was in dollarama and they had pregnancy tests for $1…I am not so sure if I would necessarily take the advice of a $1 one…I am betting it might be pretty inaccurate but they had tons of them…and has to be the strangest thing I have ever seen there, as of yet.
I work at Dollarama, and let me tell you … the employees get a kick out of some young, teenaged boys buying these $1 pg tests in quantities of 20 at a time for their gf’s.
Ok… My gf was 1 date late and she didn’t want to test, so me being a smart ass at Dollarama bought the $1.00 Pro-Care and it states it ia Health Canada Licnesed and it is on the website as well.

 Merchants welcome Dollarama but not its entrance
Construction is underway to increase Dollarama’s retail space by about 1,500 square feet at the Huronia Mall and create a sole front entrance that leads to the parking lot.
The move to seal up the mall entrance to the store is not sitting well with merchants but it’s just a matter of “going with the flow,” says Dollarama regional manager Bryon MacDonald.
Dollarama took over the former Biway location at the mall when the chain went bankrupt about four years ago.
