		Dolly Rebecca Parton was born in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, “back in the holler”, in east Tennessee on January 19, 1946, the fourth of 12 children, six boys and six girls.
		Dolly has succeeded in making herself an international icon, lovingly embraced by a diverse range of fans, from God-fearing Southern Baptists who love her folksy directness and respect for tradition, to gay people who identify with her struggle to succeed against the odds and love her her camp glamour.
		While Dolly says she is not bothered about growing older, she also says she does not want to look like an old hag and that she will do all in her power to look her best as long as she is in the public eye.
