Adolph Schayes (known as Dolph Schayes) (born May 19, 1928 in New York, New York) was a professional basketball player and coach in the NBA.
He was a member of the 1955 NBA champion Syracuse Nationals and 12-time All-Star, Schayes played for the Nationals/76ers (1948-64) in a Hall of Fame career.
Schayes led the NBA in rebounding (16.4 rpg) during 1950-51 season, and led the NBA in free throw percentage three times.

The Solvay Tigers 1951-52 basketball team, champions of the Syracuse Boys Club League, in a photo taken when the team was visited by NBA great Dolph Schayes (who appears to be sleeping on his feet) and his Syracuse Nationals player-coach Al Cervi.
