Digital Sheet Music | Zipoli, Domenico: Misa a San Ignacio
In 1958 the American musicologist Robert Stevenson amazed the music world by discovering in the archives of the Chapter in the city of Sucre in Bolivia a Mass written by Domenico Zipoli, the title of which was Mass by Zipoli for four voices.
The compositions written in Cordoba (Argentina, but formerly Paraguay), were co- pied and taken by emissaries all over South America during all the period the Jesuitical Reductions existed (1609- 1767) and even later after the Jesuits have been expelled from the region.
In spite of that, Zipoli succeeds with his San lgnacio Mass in introducing us into the solemnity of his magical music world.
