The script is an exercise in the obvious, a paint-by-numbers domestic thriller that never rises to the giddy level of Joseph Ruben's "The Stepfather" starring Terry O'Quinn, a much more effective take on the new father syndrome.
After "Battlefield Earth" and "Swordfish," "Domestic Disturbance" should have been a walk through the park for the actor.
"Domestic Disturbance" might have been a better film had Travolta and Vaughn swapped roles.

"Domestic Disturbance" is a hackneyed, by-the-numbers thriller that has no right to work, but it does.
For all its rough edges, "Domestic Disturbance" is the type of widely accessible studio film that could put Travolta on the big-time map again after some recent pitfalls, and he deserves it.

Domestic Disturbance is as fluffy entertainment as you're likely to come by, and unforgettable might be a tad bit of an overstatement.
All through Domestic Disturbance I kept having the recurring thought, "this story feels like it's only halfway finished." Characters seemed to appear out of nowhere, time transitions happened awkwardly, and the dialogue was endlessly repetitive.
Domestic Disturbance is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen.

But "Domestic Disturbance" goes out of its way to telegraph every plot point.
Screenwriter Colick also has a list of middling thrillers to his credit, including "Ghosts of Mississippi," "Judgment Night" and "Unlawful Entry." His best movies are "October Sky" and the recent Keanu Reeves movie "Hardball." Both films examine the troubled relationships between young boys and their real or surrogate fathers.

Every "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle" has 10, 20, 30+ straight to video releases of the same type and style and it is a shame that Domestic Disturbance wasn't another that followed the same line because it would have saved a lot of movie goers from another dull experience.
