Duck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, mostly smaller than their relatives the swans and geese, and may be found in both fresh and salt water.
Most domestic ducks were bred from the wild Mallard, Anas platyrhynchos, but many breeds have become much larger than their wild ancestor, with a "hull length" (from base of neck to base of tail) of 12 inches or more and routinely able to swallow an adult British Common Frog, Rana temporaria, whole.
Ducks are sometimes confused with several types of unrelated water birds with similar forms, such as loons or divers, grebes, gallinules, and coots.

Peking Duck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After drying for half a day, the duck is hung by its neck in a hot oven where it is roasted for an hour or more, during which time the copious fat of the duck melts off and the skin becomes crispy.
A traditional way of serving Peking Duck is a three course meal: first course was served with the crispy skin and steamed mu-shi flour pancakes, slivered spring onions (U.S.:scallions), sliced cucumber strips, hoisin sauce, and plum sauce.
Crispy aromatic duck is a variant of Peking duck that originated in the Chinese community in the United Kingdom.

Duck breasts consist of a boneless piece of meat that may be skinned or skinless that can be prepared similar to chicken breasts, by roasting, searing, sautéing, slow-cooking with other ingredients.

The sound made by some female ducks is called a "quack"; a common (and false) urban legend is that quacks do not produce an echo.
Most domestic ducks were bred from the wild Mallard, Anas platyrhyncha, but many breeds have become much larger than their wild ancestor, with a "hull length" (from base of neck to base of tail) of 12 inches or more and routinely able to swallow an adult British Common Frog, Rana temporaria, whole.
This happened because the older Old English word for "duck" came to be pronounced the same as the word for "end": other Germanic languages still have similar words for "duck" and "end": for example, Dutch eend = "duck", eind = "end".
