Don Heck (January 2, 1929-1995) was a comic book artist best known for co-creating the character Iron Man, and for his long run penciling The Avengers in the 1960s.
Don Heck was a major participant in Martin Goodman and Stan Lee's short-lived space fantasy new direction in late 1958 when he drew the well known cover to Tales of Suspense #1 (cover dated January 1959).
Don Heck died of lung cancer in 1995.

Don Heck (January 2, 1929 1995) was an American comic book artist best known for co-creating the Marvel Comics character Iron Man, and for his long run penciling the Marvel superhero-team series The Avengers during the 1960s Silver Age of comic books.
Heck became an Atlas staff artist on September 1, 1954; his first known work for the company was the six-page Korean War story "The Commies Attack!" in Battlefront #29 (March 1955).
Heck continued to be active in comics in later years, drawing Justice League of America, The Flash, Wonder Woman and other series for DC.

Don Heck's professional career began in 1949 when he got a job in the production department of Harvey Comics.
Heck's first super-hero assignment was on the first 'Iron Man' story, which appeared in Tales of Suspense in 1963.
In 1971, Don Heck was considered the best renderer of attractive women in comics by Jack Kirby, who suggested him to DC as an artist for 'Batgirl'.

Don's run with Roy was brief (5 issues) but memorable.
Don hooked up twice more with Rascally Roy in 1967 to handle the penciling on AVENGERS ANNUAL's #1 and issue #45 (with Avengers Day and the Super Adaptoid).
Don Heck's final issue of the AVENGERS was, believe it or not, in 1989 with AVENGERS #301 as co-penciler(with Bob Hall) and inker.

Don Heck was born on January 2nd, 1929 in Jamaica, New York.
In 1949 Heck got his first job in comics at Harvey Comics, doing production work on reprints of strips such as Milton Caniff's "Terry and the Pirates", of which his art was greatly influenced.
Heck continued to improve with his work for Comic Media, notably the simple, attracti (showing 500 of 4746 characters).
