Don Maynard (Born January 25, 1935, in Crosbyton, Texas) was an American football player who played collegiately for Texas Western College (now University of Texas at El Paso) and professionally with the American Football League's New York Titans
After having been released by the New York Giants, Maynard became the very first player to sign with the Jets in 1960.
One of only 20 players who were in the AFL for its entire 10-year existence, Maynard was also one of only seven players who played their entire AFL careers with one team.

Maynard's "voice" is one that served as a great inspiration to trumpet players throughout the world.
I should preface my story by giving Maynard the highest praise for all of his years of contributing to music education, by performing so many of his concerts in school auditoriums, and for giving so much encouragement to trumpet players, of all ages, for so long.
Maynard was so kind to me and he had signed his autograph.

Maynard is one of my favorite vocalists so seeing this would be pretty shocking to me, and yea I do think it'd explain how a lot of his music has changed.
the thing that would make maynard's music and alot of "christian artists" music not listenable is, when they "find christ" that is then the sole lyrical content of whatever they put out, while im sure that is where their heart is dosnt make it a real interesting listen.
Maynard was surrounded by Baptists when he grew up and I look at his lyrics as a response to what he saw.

Even though my plans to meet him never quite worked out, he was one of my favorite men in the world, and he will be sorely missed.
My neighbor is probably in her early 40's, so Don Knotts seriously robbed the cradle.
