Bangkok's Don Muang international airport (pronounced as dawn meu-ang, Thai for 'town on the highland') is about 25km north of central Bangkok.
Don Muang has grown rapidly since being built in the 1920's and now handles 25 million passengers a year, which is way more than originally planned for.
As a consequence, a new airport is under construction to the east of Bangkok in Samut Prakan province.
