Don Nelson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nelson had a career record of 339-251 as the Mavericks' head coach, and was instrumental in building some of the franchise's most successful teams, acquiring such players as Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard and Marquis Daniels as late 1st-round draft picks and unsigned rookie free agents, then watching them blossom into stars.
Nelson took over the reins of General Manager and Coach of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1976 and began to show what would later become his signature style of wheeling and dealing players.
One notable result of Nelson's tenure at the helm of the Mavericks was the introduction of the somewhat controversial "Hack-a-Shaq" defense to the NBA.

Nelson was one of the Celtics’ great sixth men, a non-starter who delivered immediate results when inserted and who was often on the floor at the end of the game.

Nelson received his share of the blame; his response was that the team had never been big, quick, or fast enough to prevail over the Boston and Philadelphia teams of those years.

Willie Nelson: You Don’t Know Me: Songs of Cindy Walker - PopMatters Music Review
Nelson has covered blues songs, reggae songs, and Peter Gabriel even, yet he sounds most at home in a traditional country setting, singing the good old songs that he grew up with.
Nelson’s first song to enter the country top 40 was a cover of Texas swing giant Bob Wills’ “Stay All Night (Stay a Little Longer)”, and in 2006 he’s come back to some of those Wills songs, songs which he has said he remembers as the soundtrack to his teenage years.
Each tale of heartbreak, loneliness, and romantic naivete is sung by Nelson with great passion, wistfulness, and wisdom, his voice crying at the right times and winking in a knowing way exactly when it’s called for.

Johnson already has coached the team for 13 games this year, first while Nelson had shoulder surgery, then recently when Nelson took time off to be with his wife after she had an operation.

Waterloo Records - Willie Nelson : You Don't Know Me: Songs Of Cindy Walker   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Country legend Willie Nelson was remarkably prolific in the first years of the 21st century, releasing numerous studio and concert albums, which featured intriguing stylistic departures (the reggae-tinged COUNTRYMAN) and a wide array of guest stars (the live OUTLAWS & ANGELS).
On 2006's YOU DON'T KNOW ME, Nelson gets back to his roots with an amiable set of Western swing tunes all penned (at least in part) by underrated songwriter Cindy Walker, both an old friend of the famously mellow artist and a fellow Texan.
Many of Walker's songs were first performed in the 1940s and '50s by the great Bob Wills, and Nelson stays true to that vintage vibe by including weepy pedal-steel lines and prominent background vocals.

Though Willie Nelson's thematic albums in recent years have been hit-and-miss, this labor of love is a thorough delight.
One Texas legend pays tribute to another and evokes the inspiration of a third, as Nelson puts his stylistic signature on the songbook of Cindy Walker, with arrangements channeling the spirit of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys (whose most familiar songs include many of Walker's).
Nelson's conversational phrasing refreshes the familiar title track and brings out the soulful depths of heartfelt (and heartsick) balladry such as "Not That I Care." The nimble band features the interplay of Playboys alum Johnny Gimble on fiddle and the legendary Buddy Emmons on steel guitar, under the production of Nashville veteran Fred Foster.
