CGTalk - OT:Special Effects Master Trumbull Dead at 95
"Legendary special-effects wiz Donald Trumbull, whose career spanned well over a half century of film history and included such films as Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, died Monday in Graegle, CA at the age of 95.
Some early reports of this news seemed to confuse/combine the two men, and listed Donald Trumbull (incorrectly) as the director of "Silent Running" and one of the lead special effects men on "2001," instead of Douglas.
Donald Trumbull did help his son with visual effects engineering, though, including designing motion control systems for "Close Encounters," if I'm not mistaken.
