Tyson Foods, Inc. and Donald Tyson: Lit. Rel. No. 19208 / April 28, 2005
The SEC charged that in proxy statements filed with the Commission from 1997 to 2003, Tyson Foods made misleading disclosures of perquisites and personal benefits provided to Don Tyson both prior to and after his retirement as senior chairman in October 2001.
Don Tyson was separately charged in the administrative proceeding with causing the company's violations and in the complaint with aiding and abetting the company's violations.
The SEC's Order finds that while Don Tyson was employed as senior chairman from 1997 to 2001, the company provided approximately $3 million of perquisites and personal benefits to him, his wife, his daughters and three individuals with whom he had close personal relationships.

Tyson's first issue is dismissed for lack of jurisdiction; his second is overruled.
In his second issue, Tyson argues the trial court abused its discretion by entering an adjudication of guilt and sentencing him to "a more punitive sentence than [that] recommended by the State, agreed to by the Probation Department, and accepted by the appellant." We disagree.
Tyson, however, argues the trial court abused its discretion because his sentence is greater than that recommended by the prosecution, agreed to by his probation officer and by himself.

Tyson was well aware of the accounting problems at the IBP subsidiary before signing the deal, and it also could have reasonably expected that the economic slowdown would have a negative impact on IBP.
In other words, Tyson failed in its due diligence, and the attempt to walk away from the deal was simply a case of buyer's remorse.
IBP president Richard Bond, for example, testified at trial that he entered into discussions with Tyson CEO John Tyson in March to lower the price on the deal, shortly before chairman of the board Donald Tyson — who, as family patriarch, is not quite ready to retire — reportedly pulled the plug on the merger.

RPGnet: Review of Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred (Printable Version)
Author Donald Tyson (who, ironically, is in fact a real ritual magician with several books to his credit)makes no attempt at all to pass this off as a "real" Necronomicon.
But because I knew of Tyson as a genuine occultist and editor of obscure grimoires, I was afraid he would try to pass off his Necronomicon as an authentic occult work.
Tyson proves himself to be an adept storyteller; at first we pity the young Alhazred--his nose, ears, and manhood cut off in punishment for his crime--then watch in growing horror as he succumbs to madness wandering alone in the desert (forced to hide during the day and eat corpses left by desert caravans by night).

So don't get me wrong, Tyson's Necronomicon is well-written and at times extremely fascinating, but despite of all the useful data and beautifully crafted sentences it eventually did - and unfortunately, I must say - transform into a boring read.
Tyson's Necronomicon is an exception to a rule I usually respect: that books bought on impulse, based on reading a few pages in a bookstore, are usually unworthy.
From the prefaces by Wormius and Filetas (each striking a different, although ominous, note) to the drawings of signs and stelae, to the maps, the book is a joy.

Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred is author Donald Tyson's attempt to recreate H. Lovecraft's fictional tome of cosmic horrors which form the basis of his Cthulhu Mythos.
The reason Tyson's attempt works is simply because he has done his homework, he has an obvious love for the work of Lovecraft and his circle, and unlike Simon's execrable Necronomicon published by Avon, Tyson writes a work of fiction the Old Gentleman From Providence would have eagerly blessed.
