A three-year-old Co Tyrone boy has died in hospital after being struck by a car in Donemana, near Strabane yesterday afternoon.
The boy, Adam Mullen, and his mother were in Allen Park in the village of Donemana yesterday afternoon when a white Peugeot 309 car mounted the kerb and struck them.
The 22-year-old man driving the car involved did not stop and was later found dead in a quarry in the same area.

They set that up with a devastating performance in midweek as they took revenge for being denied the chance to complete the task a the first time of asking when Strabane objected to fielding on a damp outfield - and were fined for their troubles.
It has been a calculated onslaught by Donemana who opted to continue the game after the Strabane innings despite the North West rules allowing for a 20-over game to be played over two evenings at this late stage of the season.
The irony of the situation for Donemana is that they want Strabane to be as fired up as possible for the final game of the season against Brigade this Saturday, or their mammoth efforts this week will all have been in vain.

The history of Donemana, goes back almost three centuries to when John Drummond was granted the entire acreage of the area (1,000 acres) by James I in 1609 during the Plantation of Ulster.
Altinaghree Castle subsequently deteriorated in condition and was bought at the turn of the century by the father of the present owner, Mr.S.A.C. Eaton, of Ballyneaner.
The trains at this point were not to exceed 5 miles per hour, however Willie Fullerton took the train to that point at 20 miles per hour and as a result the engine and several carriages derailed and overturned.

Situated in the Sperrin Mountains, Donemana can be approached from the main Dungiven/Londonderry road, by turning off into Claudy, and then following the signs to Donemana for the next 9 miles.
Alternatively, there is a back road from New Buildings for those coming from Londonderry, which will take you past the manse, just before the Cricket ground (on the opposite side of the road) as you enter the village.
Donemana is a strong rural congregation with almost 130 children in the Sunday School, and with all the usual organisations.

It was third time lucky for Donemana Primary School who were crowned 2007 ASDA Kwik Cricket Champions for Northern Ireland at their third attempt at the title.
Campbell overcame Enniskillen in one semi-final while Eglinton took on Donemana in the battle of the North West, which provided a classic with Donemana chasing down the Eglinton total and ensuring they didn’t lose the wickets Eglington needed to snatch victory back.
Batting first in the final, Campbell’s loss of early wickets proved decisive and they found themselves having to chase the game in the hope they could inflict damage in the Donemana innings but that was not to happen and after losing in the last two finals, this was Donemana’s day.

Most hit the outside of the house but a least one bullet was fired through a kitchen window.
Three adults who were in the house at the time were not injured.

Ulsterbus Derry said goodbye to their long serving Leyland Leopards on Saturday 28th January 2006, with a farewell trip along some of the traditional routes around Ardground, Strabane, Donemana and Claudy.
With an early event start on the Saturday morning, the first bus services from Dublin @ 9 am with an arrival in Derry just after lunchtime were just too late, but a recently introduced air service from Dublin to Derry Airport meant an arrival time in Eglinton at 10 am, which was perfect.
