Dong Nai is rapidly modernizing, and because of proximity to Saigon as well as a relatively well-developed infrastructure, commerce has thrived in the province.

DONG NAI — The southern province of Dong Nai has received US$800 million in foreign direct investment capital in the first eight months of the year, the largest in the country.
"Dong Nai Province has set a target to attract $1 billion in FDI capital this year," said Dang Thi Kim Nguyen, Deputy chairwoman of the province’s People’s Committee and the head of the Dong Nai Industrial Zone Management Board.
The province currently has 565 effective FDI projects, with a total registered capital of $6.8 billion, from 25 foreign countries and territories.

In addition, a 24-year-old man from central Lam Dong province who died Monday was also confirmed as a bird flu victim, said Tran Tinh Hien, deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City's Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Duc said the girl was the first bird flu victim from southern Dong Nai province, Vietnam's largest poultry producer with nearly 10 million chickens and ducks raised.
