It is bounded on the south by the Missouri River, the State of Missouri and Atchison County, Kansas; west by Brown County; north by the State line and the Missouri, and east by the Missouri River and the State of Missouri.
Doniphan County is not rich in minerals, no coal having been discovered, and, although building stone is believed to exist, no quarries have yet been developed.

He was born in Holt, County of Norfolk, England, January 1, 1811, and lived in his native place until the year 1844, when he came to America and settled in New York City, where he lived one year and then removed to Brooklyn, where he lived the same length of time.
ELIZA ANN WILLIS, widow of Darius Willis, farmer P. Doniphan, came to Kansas with her husband in the spring of 1862, and located on their farm in Wayne Township, where they lived until the spring of 1865, when they moved to Shannon Township, Atchison County, later returning to Doniphan County.
The farm lies partly in Atchison and partly in Doniphan counties and is not surpassed in improvements or fertility by any farm in either county.

John and Frederick Moser and their mother came to Mosquito creek in 1856, crossing the Missouri river on a primitive flatboat ferry at Doniphan, which was only large enough to accommodate one yoke of oxen at a time.
Rogers, who was one of Doniphan county's first three commissioners, and was also postmaster of Rogersville in 1857-59 on the old California road east of Mosquito creek.
