Gornji Grad was founded to the west from the fortress while Donji Grad was developed to the east from the fortress over the remaining of the old Mursa.
It is possible to state that the function of the central square of Donji Grad is inheritated by inertia and by its definition it is the area that has losen its identity.
Donji Grad has not participated to the image of the town with an urban element of equal quality.
