nthposition online magazine: The bible of eugenics
We do know that Wilfred Kellogg grew up in the SDA church, with Adventist doctrine permeating his early experiences: both Wilfred's father and grandfather were SDA elders, and his uncle, Moses Eastman Kellogg, was a prominent SDA editor and writer.
In 1906 Dr Kellogg founded the eugenically minded Race Betterment Foundation to "call attention to the dangers which threaten the race", to research the "causes of race deterioration", and to promote "biologic living." William and Lena Sadler as well were active eugenics crusaders.
Though the Sadlers' and Kelloggs' deepest beliefs - that the human race must be improved by elimination of the supposed unfit - were not uncommon during the 1910s and 1920s, after that time, such ideas had to be re-packaged.
