On the way the route passes by such places as Pont-Saint-Martin, Donnas, Saint Vincent, Nus, Saint Marcel, Quart, Brissogne, Saint Christophe, Aosta, Pila, Sarre, Saint Pierre, Arvier, La Salle, Morgex and Pre Saint Didier.
It is also completely surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Europe and there is basically only one way of seeing the valley and that's to use the Autostrada Quincinetto Aosta.
Sarre - the castle was the hunting retreat of Vittorio Emanuele II.
