  Berkshire History: Donnington Castle
Donnington was to be the home of his daughter, Alice, and her first husband, Sir John Philip, when they married in 1415.
She descended on Donnington from Wales and had the Mayor of Newbury supply her with armed clothiers to instigate a pitched battle at the castle gates!
By the time of the Civil War, the castle was owned by the Parliamentarian Packer family, but, at the commencement of hostilities, it was quickly taken for the King and held by Sir John Boys.

Save ABRO Donnington Campaigners last night joined their colleagues from DLO Telford and RAF Cosford in a lobbying members of the public attending the the BBC Question time program, which was being filmed at the Telford international Centre.
Save ABRO Donnington Campaigner Andy Hanks said "we are hoping that this event, in the week that an announcement is expected, from the minister, on the future of ABRO Donnington, could give the Government the final push needed to change its decision on the immediate future of the site".
AFC Telford warmed up in save ABRO Donnington T-Shirts, something that could be looked on as a good luck charm, as they improved on their recent form, to win 2-1.This turned out to be a highly successful day, with over 600 signatures and in excess of £120 collected.

Donnington Castle is a ruined mediaeval castle, situated in the small village of Donnington, just north of the town of Newbury in the English county of Berkshire.
It shouldn’t be confused with Castle Donington in Leicestershire.
Both King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I visited Donnington Castle and the latter wanted to live there during her imprisonment by her sister, Queen Mary I, but this was not allowed.

Not as widely available until now, Live at Donnington is a good example of the band's live show during Bruce Dickinson's last pre-reunion tour with the band.
In fact, the entire tracklisting of A Real Live One is on the Donnington disc, along with a healthy smattering of classic tracks that break up the more monotonous Fear of the Dark tracks (*cough* "Wasting Love" *cough*).
The quality of the video is pretty good, even with compression, but we're going to have to wait for the Iron Maiden DVD to really experience Maiden in your living room or on your PC.
