Doom - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Doom was not the first first-person shooter with a deathmatch mode—MIDI Maze on the Atari ST had one in 1987, using the MIDI ports built into the ST to network up to four machines together.
Doom was and remains notorious for its high levels of violence, gore, and satanic imagery, which have generated much controversy from a broad range of groups.
Doom prompted fears that the then-emerging virtual reality technology could be used to simulate extremely realistic killing, and in 1994 led to unsuccessful attempts by Washington state senator Phil Talmadge to introduce compulsory licensing of VR use.

 IGN: Doom II Review
Doom II The sequel remade on the GBA is still fun, but doesn't have nearly the same impact the original did last year.
Doom II is honestly more of the same, but at least its improved in almost every way.
Doom II is a definite improvement over the original Doom, but its impact in the Game Boy Advance market is much less pronounced from the first game because, honestly, the sequel on the PC wasn't much more than a slight upgrade from the first game.

Doom II Cheat Codes - IGN FAQs
In Macintosh Doom II games, typing a cheat code may fire the currently-held weapon, as all cheat codes include the D key, which is the default Fire key.
In PSX Doom games, invoking a Warp code will reset a player's status to 100% health, 0% armor, a pistol and 50 bullets (all other weapons and ammo are removed, along with any backpack), and cancels the effects of any other cheat codes which were previously invoked.
In Zodiac Doom II, the game's internal keyboard must be accessed before codes are entered, and this may cause weapon switching (or other unintended action by the player character) during gameplay.

Doom II for PC Review - PC Doom II Review
Doom II doesn't build the same visceral or emotional connection because it doesn't enhance the original experience in any original way.
Compared to Hexen, for example, which broadens the Heretic legend, Doom II adds little substance and no plot to its predecessor (space marine saves earth by killing monsters isn't a plot).

DOOM II hits the GBA with startling results.
Back in 1994, when DOOM II first hit the PC, I was immediately hooked.
It was the most eerie, violent, bizarre game around, and more importantly, it was remarkably well designed, extremely fun, and full of secrets that gave it a very long shelf life.
