	Dornier Do 217
		The Do 217 was the most important aircraft in the series of bombers that began with the Do 17.
		Do 217R was a designation given to the five Do 317 prototypes when they were used to carry the Hs 293 missile.
		Once the threat was known, allied fighter escorts made it increasingly dangerous for the Do 217s to linger in the vicinity of their targets – the main weakness of these weapons was that they required the launching bomber to keep the missile in sight until it struck home.

	The Dornier Do17
		Dornier constructed a number of aircraft that were later to be dubbed the "Flying Pencils" due mainly to the long thin outline of the fuselage.
		The first flight of the Dornier was on November 23rd 1934, and was rejected by Lufthansa and the prototypes were left in a hangar, only to be discovered a few years later by Robert Untucht who was the air ministry liaison officer, and a test pilot with Lufthansa.
		By the 9th prototype the 217 ended up with the powerful BMW 801 engine and although these improvements were positive, those that flew it stated that it was acceptable to fly but modifications still needed to be made to make it an airworthy long range bomber in military situations.

	MPM Do-217 M-1 by Jerry Soetewey
		This model is the vac formed MPM Dornier Do 217 K-1 modified to a M-1 using Kosters Daimler Benz 603 engines from his K-2/M11 conversion.
		I always wanted to do the big glass nosed Dornier Do 217, until the release of the Koster vacuform kit a few years ago, the MPM vac was the only game in town and I had it on the shelf for a while.
		I hope to use the rest of this set on the Revell/Monogram Do 217 E to convert it to a long wing K-2.
