This 281-hectare reserve in Grey County contains a remarkable, mature maple-beech forest that is a rare example of pre-settlement woodlands in southern Ontario.
Many of the trees are 250-300 years old, tower over 100 feet in height, and clearly show the vertical stratification characteristic of a true, old-growth forest.
In December 1997, the Federation purchased an additional 40 hectares of the Kinghurst Forest ANSI within the land given to the Federation by Howard Krug.

My real objective was to visit Royal Dornoch three or so hours north of Edinburgh, and Macrahanish over on the Mull of Kintyre about as close to Ireland as you can get on mainland Scotland.
Dornoch is a beautiful little town on the Dornoch Firth about 30 miles north of Inverness.
Even if the shots were not particularly good, and the golfer was confused and somewhat at loose ends, the day was warm and pleasant, the course was strikingly beautiful, and I had played one of the world's best courses.

The Marietta College cross country team traveled to Canada this weekend to compete in the Western International Invitational hosted by the University of Western Ontario.
The meet featured some of the best runners in the state of Ontario, Canada as well as a few American teams.
The Pioneers cross country teams will be off the weekend of October 1, but will return to competition in the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, (Oct. 7) at the Dornoch Golf Course in Delaware, OH.

The group had splintered into two parts just after the Seventh line stretch but regrouped in Flesherton where some friendly comments were made towards the route developer.
We traveled as one for a few km's then split back into two groups before rejoining in Dornoch where we had an impromptu ice cream social before the home stretch.
The home stretch is just that, it can seem a stretch, another hill, some head wind, cooler temperatures.

Having finished the Bowle Mountain, the remaining hills were almost a compliment to all the riders.
Pedalling into Dornoch was just gorgeous, the wind disappeared and the sun lit up the beautiful dirt roads leading to the Dornoch General Store.
A few pounds of great ice cream were taken in and then the group left for the final section to Port Elgin.
