		Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, Dorwinion or Dor-Winion, the Land of Wines, is a land which lay on the northwestern shores of the Sea of Rhûn.
		Dorwinion was drawn at Tolkien's advice on Pauline Baynes' map of Middle-earth as lying at the end of the Carnen and Celduin, and in that position it has since appeared on other maps.
		Dorwinion is mentioned in The Hobbit as the place where the special wine of the Elven King (Thranduil) comes from, and the crates are returned by way of the Forest River to the Long Lake of Esgaroth.

	Lands & Regions of Middle-earth
		The wines of Dorwinion were of the highest quality and were used by King Thranduil of Mirkwood for his feasts.
		Since the wine was transported in barrels from Long Lake, it is possible that Dorwinion was located somewhere along the river system of the River Running.

		It is possible that the Third Age Dorwinion was already > in existence in the First Age and the Dwarves were bringing the wine > from there, but then it would seem more likely to be described as > being in the 'distant East' than the "burning South".
		But compared to Beleriand, if Dorwinion was in the hills around Rhun (it has to be hills to grow good wine) it _would_ be 'South' of Beleriand.
