The dosa we ordered was presented quite differently than any other dosa I've had, in three small cylinders that were stuffed full, rather than the bigger-than-your-dog dosas that have more crepe and less filling (granted, I noticed that they did serve the traditional masala dosa in the traditional way).
Dosas and uttapams are not meant to be eaten on their own, so it's a bit unfair to evaluate them WITHOUT their embellishments.

They have a full range of Dosas at Kastoori: 188 Upper Tooting Road, London, SW17 7EJ, which is probably my favorite London restaurant (ever) which is in South London.
But I'm afraid the most Northerly Dosa I know about is Diwana Bhel Poori et al on Drummond Street (and, having eaten there recently, I'd say its worth going a bit further south).
But I've heard tell of a mini-mall in NJ where the Dosas have met America and all sorts of strange local ingredients have entered the pancake.
